The man died in a Granada hospital after participating in a fight on Saturday, which left him brain-dead, according to local news outlet Ideal. National Police are now investigating his death as a homicide and are analysing footage from the fight he took part in. One disturbing video shows the victim fighting with another man. Both appear bare-chested as they throw punches at each other in front of a crowd of over a dozen people. The victim can be seen collapsing after his opponent pummels him with punches. Appearing disoriented and unable to get back on his feet, he is shown sitting on the ground. Onlookers do not intervene, but rather appear to encourage the fight. The second man involved in the fatal fight, another homeless man, has since been arrested and is in custody, and faces a charge of reckless homicide. Footage shows the victim brawling with another man in Granada on Saturday Spectators can be heard cheering as the man collapses onto the floor after receiving a flurry of punches According to police, the alleged organisers select drug addicts, many of whom are homeless, to clash on the streets in front of an audience. Cops believe participants are offered either narcotics or 20 euros each to take part, according to Ideal.Investigators also believe the violent fights have become a daily occurrence over the last month, with face-offs taking place in neighbourhoods across the north of Granada. The incident involving the homeless man comes after a French police officer came under investigation this week after footage emerged showing him throwing a homeless man to the ground, causing him to hit his head and die. The 29-year-old man died two weeks later, following the incident on June 21 at a music festival in Carcassonne, France. At first, authorities denied that there was any link between the officer's actions and the man's death.'Based on the current state of the investigation, there is no (...) causal link between the events recorded and the death that occurred 13 days later,' the prosecutor's office said.'An investigation into the causes of death is underway, while the autopsy carried out on July 9, 2026 ruled out any suspicious injuries indicating the intervention of a third party and indicated the most likely toxic cause.' The man then appears to lie on the ground, disoriented But an investigation into the intentional use of violence by a person exercising public authority was launched after the video sparked public outrage. The clip, shared widely on social media, shows five police officers surrounding a man before one officer grabs him by the collar and throws him to the ground. The man is then seen curled up in a fetal position, clutching his head as angry bystanders attempt to intervene.Local media reported that the man suffered an open wound to his head and was later taken into care by emergency personnel. The victim was identified as a homeless man named Youssef E, and the prosecution claimed he had a 'known history of multiple substance use'.
