The Australian actress was accused of murder as a teenager.Rose, now 40, recounted the traumatic incident that occurred when she was 15 years old. The “Orange Is the New Black” star was attending a social gathering with her mother when she and a friend noticed what appeared to be a doll on a playground slide in a backyard.“My friend and I locked eyes and we started walking towards it. As we got close enough, we could tell this was a real human,” Rose said. The child, a 4-year-old boy, was bleeding from his ears, nose and mouth.Rose carried the injured child inside for help. The boy was transported to a hospital and placed on life support, but Rose later received word that he would not recover due to being brain dead for too long. The child did not survive.Police arrived at Rose’s high school the following day to question her about the incident. The investigation prompted severe bullying from other students who called her a “baby killer.” Rose described the period as one where she was “breaking down” and already viewed by peers as a “weird kid.”Authorities ultimately cleared Rose of suspicion after the boy’s older brother recovered from dissociative amnesia and regained his memory of witnessing the event. The brother confirmed to police that the death was a tragic accident.“He went back to the police and thank goodness told them, because they didn’t think it was me anyway, but that doesn’t always happen,” Rose said.Despite being cleared by police, the boy’s mother excluded Rose from the funeral while the rest of the community attended.Kelly Corbett is a Trending News Reporter for syracuse.com | The Post-Standard.
