Following a major Xbox studio restructuring and leadership reset in September of this year, development of the next entry in the Halo franchise was handed over to Activision and, as such, fans of the long-running franchise are worried about what the future will hold, especially as this restructuring effort came alongside mass layoffs once again. Now with almost none of the original Halo developers on the team for the next Halo entry, the Call of Duty developer is going to have to pull out all the stops to make Halo 7 stand shoulder to shoulder with previous entries when it releases in years to come. However, it is not all doom and gloom, as to coincide with the launch of Halo: Campaign Evolved earlier this year, one exciting launch is guaranteed to see fans flock in their thousands to grab their copy. Halo: Campaign Evolved - The Board Game is exactly what it says on the tin, a board game experience inspired by the events of the most recent Halo release. Aimed at 1-2 players with each game taking around 30 minutes to complete, players aged 13 and over will be able to immerse themselves in the sci-fi world when the game launches this December. As the official synopsis reads: "Step into the armor of the Master Chief and relive some of Halo’s most iconic missions in this exciting 1-2 player board game. Fight Covenant forces across the mysterious ringworld, explore UNSC and enemy vessels, complete objectives, and discover powerful weapons and equipment as humanity’s fate hangs in the balance." Inspired by classic Halo missions, those familiar with the franchise from the very beginning will recognize some of the scenarios that players will find themselves in. This includes: Pillar of Autumn Halo Truth and Reconciliation (Part 1 – Fight to the Grav Lift) Truth and Reconciliation (Part 2 – Rescue Captain Keyes) The Silent Cartographer (Part 1 – Beachhead Assault) The Silent Cartographer (Part 2 – Forerunner Installation) Assault on the Control Room (Part 1 – Bridge Fight) Assault on the Control Room (Part 2 – Clear the Covenant) Featuring multiple linked scenarios, each mission will task players with tackling new objectives, enemies, battlefield layouts, and tactical challenges as they experience a board game that "combines streamlined rules with meaningful decisions." Not only that, but players can expect Halo-themed weapons and tools, such as the Needler, Sniper Rifle, Rocket Launcher, Overshield and Active Camouflage as you "battle Grunts, Jackals and Elite warriors throughout the campaign." Launching alongside a rule book, modular map tiles, cards and tokens, covenant enemy standees, Master Chief miniatures, and Covenant Sangheili Zealot miniature, Halo: Campaign Evolved - The Board Game is the ultimate Halo experience, and will definitely make the wait for Halo 7 that little bit easier. Luckily, it is available for pre-order now, and at $59, it is a steal.
