Stephen Morris, 68, who is New Order’s drummer, recently said in an interview that he had a “health problem”. Sign up for the Showbiz newsletter Thank you! “I really don’t want to dwell on what this illness is, but it’s pretty serious,” he told Rolling Stone magazine. “It’s not something that someone’s going to come up with a cure for.” But after there was an outpouring from fans who thought that Stephen was very ill, Gillian released a statement revealing it was actually her with the health battle. “Thank you everyone who has reached out following Stephen’s recent interview with Rolling Stone,” the star said in a statement. It is in fact me, who like many other people, is living with cancer.” Continuing, the musician said: “We completely understand how the misunderstanding arose and simply wanted to ensure that the correct information was shared. “We are enormously grateful for everyone’s kindness and support and would appreciate some privacy as I continue with my treatment.” Due to Gillian’s cancer battle, she will not be taking part in their upcoming tour, nor will her husband. “New Order are very happy to be playing Primavera in Chile in November marking the band’s first performance there in seven years,” the band wrote on Instagram. “Due to personal health reasons, Stephen and Gillian won’t be touring for the foreseeable future and will not be joining for this show.” Manchester band New Order formed in the 80s and are best known for songs like Blue Monday, Bizarre Love Triangle, and the 1990 World Cup anthem, World in Motion. Stephen is an original member of the band, which started after his first group Joy Division called it quits. Gillian joined not long after, and is considered as part of the band’s first line-up. The couple wed in 1994 and share two daughters together, named Tilly and Grace. Comment now
