5 of the most devastating takeaways from Wall Street Journal’s bombshell Fetterman report

John Fetterman (D-Pa.) by the Wall Street Journal.Fetterman, who has at time been at odds with his own Democratic Party but is admired by many in President Donald Trump’s MAGA world, allegedly dodged his constituents and blew off Senate business, according to the report. Mediaite listed five of the most damning allegations in the Fetterman report. --When three paralyzed military veterans from Pennsylvania arrived in Washington in June for a long-awaited meeting with the senator, the Journal said, they were told that Fetterman was unwell and the meeting was canceled. Fetterman, however, arrived at his office later and did an interview with Fox News. --According to the Journal’s report, the Pennsylvania Democrat often refused or canceled meetings with constituents and lawmakers. In one instance, when told that the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia wanted to discuss Medicaid cuts, Fetterman allegedly responded: “Why do I have to keep having to meet with CHOP.” When told the hospital was concerned about vaccines and Medicaid, he replied: “Well I’m not.” Fetterman added, “I’m convinced they just want free trips to DC.”--The Journal said that records showed Fetterman had skipped 11 of 12 full committee hearings during one stretch. It was reported that Fetterman would make sure that Senate clerks noticed his arrival but would then leave meetings early. --Fetterman reportedly declined to attend the funeral for three police officers killed near his hometown of York, Pa., last year, the report said, because the event would take an estimated three hours. Fetterman responded, “3 hours??” and said, “This may be a nonstarter.”--The Journal reported that Fetterman had told Israeli Ambassador Yechiel Leiter he would write an op-ed supporting Israel using points supplied by Leiter. But staff later helped short-circuit the op-ed, fearing that using Leiter’s info under Fetterman’s name might violate the Foreign Agents Registration Act.
