It's spooky season, and we have a new Halloween-themed show for you to watch this weekend. It's a dramedy involving teenage witches coming to Disney+ and Hulu. As for the non-spooky shows to watch this weekend, a new thriller starring an Academy Award-winning actress premieres on AMC+. Elsewhere, a juicy drama starring Dominic West and Sienna Miller heads to HBO Max. On CBS, a Yellowstone spin-off returns for its sophomore season. However, our top show of the week is an adaptation of a famous John Steinbeck novel. All five shows can be streamed in the U.S. 5 Kill Jackie Catherine Zeta-Jones takes on deadly assassins Whenever an acclaimed actress like Catherine Zeta-Jones headlines a new television show, it's going to garner attention. The Oscar winner acts less frequently these days, so when she does headline a buzzy revenge thriller, it's worth talking about. The show is Kill Jackie, an eight-part series based on The Price You Pay by Nick Harkaway, who wrote under the pseudonym Aidan Truhen. Decades ago, Jackie Price (Zeta-Jones) was one of the top drug smugglers in the world. However, she left a life of crime to work as a luxury art dealer, which she has been doing for the last 20 years. Unfortunately for Jackie, her past has caught up with her in the form of The Seven Demons, highly trained assassins out to kill her. Now, Jackie must channel her inner John Wick and "kill them all." The show feels like a spiritual successor to Killing Eve, especially if you enjoyed its campy, darkly comedic tone. Kill Jackie premieres on Oct. 2 on AMC+. New episodes will be released weekly on Fridays. Kill Jackie Release Date October 2, 2026 Network Prime Video, AMC+ Directors Dawn Shadforth, Damon Thomas, Sophie Muller 4 Coven Academy Welcome to the school for witches Young audiences love teenagers with supernatural powers. Just look at the success of Netflix's Wednesday as proof. Disney is getting in on the action with a group of teenage witches in Coven Academy. In New Orleans, there is a school, Coven Academy, where young witches and warlocks-in-training learn to apply and control their powers. Three teenage witches—Briar (Malina Weissman), Tegan (Ora Duplass), and Sasha (Jordan Leftwich)—are at the center of the coven. The teens quickly realize that their livelihood faces threats from outside forces. One of those threats might be Ollie (Louis Thresher), a vampire who forms a connection with Briar, much to the dismay of the warlock Jake (Malachi Barton). It wouldn't be a teen show without a love triangle, amirite? Melodrama, romance, and magic are formulas that should work again with young people. Coven Academy is now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu. Coven Academy Release Date October 1, 2026 Network Freeform Directors Tim Federle 3 Marshals season 2 Kayce Dutton rides again I'm sure there were many disappointed fans when Yellowstone ended its historic run on the Paramount Network. Luckily for those passionate fans, they didn't have to wait long for the spin-offs. In one corner, Beth and Rip moved to Texas in Dutton Ranch. In the other corner, Kayce Dutton remained in Montana and joined law enforcement in Marshals, which returns for its second season. When Marshals begins, Kayce (Luke Grimes) is grieving the loss of his wife and living in Montana with his son, Tate (Brecken Merrill). Kayce is recruited by his former Navy SEAL team leader, Cal (Logan Marshall-Green), to join the U.S. Marshals. The CBS drama is more of a police procedural than a Yellowstone continuation. However, the Dutton legacy lives on in Kayce, so fans should be happy to see one of Yellowstone's memorable characters in more stories. Marshals season 2 premieres at 8:30 p.m. ET on Oct. 4 on CBS and streams on Paramount+. On Oct. 11, the show moves to its regular Sunday time slot of 8 p.m. ET. 2 War season 1 Divorce is a battle George Kay loves his stylish thrillers. He co-created Lupin, an excellent show perfect for downloading before a flight. Speaking of air travel, Kay also co-created Hijack, Apple TV's pulpy saga that puts Idris Elba up against hijackers. This time around, Kay is tackling the ins and outs of divorce proceedings in War. Divorce is ugly, but it's also a high-stakes legal battle between the two competing sides. Tech billionaire Morgan Henderson (Dominic West) and movie star Carla Duval (Sienna Miller) are headed toward a divorce. With millions of dollars at stake, Morgan and Carla will have to play dirty to gain the upper hand. That's where their legal teams come in—Morgan with Cathcarts & Sons and Carla with Taylor & Byrne.War is a pulpy and addictive thriller that becomes more about greed and ambition than the dissolution of a marriage. The first episode of War season 1 is now streaming on HBO Max. New episodes will release weekly on HBO and HBO Max. War Release Date October 1, 2026 Network HBO Directors Ben Taylor 1 East of Eden John Steinbeck's novel gets a new adaptation Elia Kazan adapted John Steinbeck's East of Eden into a feature film in 1955. I would guess that most people associate the movie with James Dean, who received an Academy Award nomination for his role. It became the only one of his three movies to be released during his lifetime. Kazan's film predominantly focuses on the final chapters of the book. Zoe Kazan, Elia's grandfather, has adapted Steinbeck's book into a Netflix limited series. Zoe's East of Eden is more faithful to the novel, as it spans decades between the Civil War and World War I. At the center of the story is Cathy Ames (Florence Pugh), the antihero who becomes involved with half-brothers Adam (Christopher Abbott) and Charles (Mike Faist) Trask. The Trasks are intertwined with the Hamiltons, with Cathy playing an integral role in the brothers' futures. East of Eden is a story that mirrors Cain and Abel, but it also deals with morality and how a parent can pass down emotional trauma to their children. East of Eden is now streaming on Netflix. East of Eden Release Date 2026 - 2026-00-00 Network Netflix Directors Garth Davis More shows to check out when you get a chance It's a great time to be looking for shows to watch because there are so many streaming options.
