The calendar has flipped to October, and Hulu has an eclectic list of new shows and movies hitting the service. Anyone up for some "Wonderwall?" One of the most talked-about reunions finally comes to streaming in a new documentary this month. Another movie to watch is an intriguing horror featuring one of the stars of Severance. This month, a provocative legal drama returns for its fourth season. On FX, a crime comedy starring an Academy Award nominee comes back for a second season. Finally, an intriguing mystery with comedic elements features the star of one of the greatest shows of all time. This list presents the shows and movies in the order of their release. Reasonable Doubt season 4 Drama at the law firm If you're looking for a show strictly about lawyers fighting for justice with their words and arguments, Reasonable Doubt isn't that. Raamla Mohamed's legal show is much more interested in the drama outside the courtroom and the ways relationships and loyalty are constantly tested. Reasonable Doubt centers around Jax Stewart (Emayatzy Corinealdi), a high-profile Los Angeles defense attorney. Jax is not afraid to take on difficult and morally questionable cases. Season 3 ended with an explosive cliffhanger that leaves someone fighting for their life in the hospital. Reasonable Doubt combines the thrills of Scandal with the melodrama of Grey's Anatomy. That right there is an entertaining formula. The three-episode premiere of Reasonable Doubt season 4 streams on Oct. 6, followed by a new episode every Tuesday. Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger So, Sally can wait If you ever think your relationship with a sibling is bad, just remember the Gallagher brothers constantly trashed each other in public for over a decade. Unfortunately, the rivalry between Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher robbed the world of more music from Oasis, the brothers' highly successful rock band that became one of the leading bands of the Britpop movement. Honestly, I never thought Oasis would reunite after their breakup in 2009. Here's the thing about family: brothers fight, but they're still brothers. In August 2024, Oasis announced they had reformed and would go on tour in 2025. Cameras captured it all for Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger, a new documentary that chronicles the rise, fall, and reunion of an iconic band that inspired an entire generation of artists. Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger streams on Oct. 9. Scott is now best known for his work as Mark S. on the hit Apple TV sci-fi show Severance. Refusing to be put in a box as an actor, Scott branched out for Hokum, a supernatural thriller written and directed by Damian McCarthy. While struggling to finish his book, author Ohm Bauman (Scott) sees the ghost of his mother, leading him to take a trip to a hotel in Ireland where his parents honeymooned to spread their ashes. While at the hotel, Ohm learns that the honeymoon suite is supposedly haunted by a witch that kidnaps children. Things get even weirder once someone Ohm knows disappears. Hokum is a haunted house movie, and McCarthy is an excellent director when it comes to atmospheric horror. It's spooky season, so there's no better time to watch Hokum than the present. Hokum streams on Oct. 10. Hokum The Lowdown season 2 Stylish crime caper is back with another mystery Put Ethan Hawke in every project. The Academy Award nominee is one of Hollywood's finest actors. Watch any interview with Hawke, and you'll see why he's one of the most thoughtful personalities in the business. Hawke is back as Tulsa's "truthstorian" for the second season of Sterlin Harjo's acclaimed The Lowdown. Lee Raybon (Hawke) is the eccentric owner of a Tulsa bookstore, but his real passion is working as an investigative writer to expose corruption and solve troublesome cases. In season 2, Lee agrees to help public defender Ginger (Betty Gilpin) when one of her clients goes missing in prison. Things get even weirder for Lee when Lee Raybon Senior (Tommy Lee Jones) unexpectedly walks into town. With great actors and excellent writing, you're not going to find many crime comedies better than The Lowdown. The two-episode premiere of The Lowdown season 2 airs on Oct. 14 on FX and Hulu, followed by new episodes weekly. Phony Is this my mother? Imagine surviving a serious car accident, waking up in a hospital, and believing that the person you love is someone else. That's the basic plot of Phony, a new mystery comedy coming to Hulu later this month. Sonny Cooke (Sam Nivola) is a popular high school student who gets into a terrible accident. When Sonny wakes up in a hospital bed, he's greeted by his mother, Ellen (Connie Britton). However, something is off with Ellen. According to Sonny, she looks different, and the trailer supports his theory. Is Sonny's mother an impostor? That's what he and his friends are going to find out. Admittedly, it will take some time to adjust to seeing Britton in a motherly role that isn't the Tami Taylor role from Friday Night Lights. The two-episode premiere of Phony premieres on Oct. 20, followed by new episodes weekly. Phony Network Hulu Writers Nick Paley New movies and shows coming in October If you're searching for new content to start the month, then you've come to the right place.
