Credit: Ben Rothstein/Prime Video Published Oct 11, 2026, 2:00 PM EDT Derek Malcolm has been covering the worlds of tech and entertainment for more than two decades. Before coming to How-To Geek in 2025, Derek was a contributing editor and writer for the A/V and Home Theater section at Digital Trends, where he wrangled and wrote everything from what to watch on Netflix to reviews, explainers, and guides on the latest Bluetooth speakers, turntables, projectors, and other A/V gear. Based in Toronto, Derek graduated from Humber College's Journalism program in 1999, after which he started covering the worlds of music, movies, TV, and celebrity for publications such as TV Guide, Hello! magazine, and Inside Entertainment. He then got the bug for covering tech and gadgets in 2006, when he served as editor-in-chief of Canadian tech magazine Connected for more than a decade. An avid skier, when all the snow's gone Derek can be found at home spinning vinyl with his daughter or cheering on his favorite F1 team, McLaren. Sign in to your How-To Geek account We're in the midst of the fall TV onslaught, when many big shows come firing back with hot new seasons. If you're a planner with severe FOMO like me, a good look ahead at what's coming is just the kind of obsessive thing you need to make sure you don't miss anything. The five Prime Video, Paramount+, Netflix, and HBO Max series below are making their returns between late October and late November, and some have been gone so long you may have forgotten where they left off (looking at you, The Terminal List. It's been four years). For those who've heard good things but never started, or have forgotten who's trying to kill whom, here's what's coming, what happened, and where to watch—in order of release. 1 The Terminal List, Season 2 (Prime Video) No rest for the deadly Navy SEAL Like Arya Stark's fabled list and John Wick just wanting his dog back, a great revenge story makes for good TV. Fans of The Terminal List seem to agree, as the franchise, which includes the prequel Dark Wolf, has drawn more than 100 million viewers worldwide, according to Amazon. Chris Pratt plays Navy SEAL James Reece, whose wife and daughter are murdered, driving him to work his way down a list in a rampage of violent revenge. Season 1 ended with Reece crossing everyone off and sailing to Mozambique for some quiet time. Season 2, however, drags Reece into a conspiracy that involves the CIA, Moscow, and his family's past. Season 2 premieres October 21 on Prime Video, with all eight episodes dropping at once. I'll never again plastic-drop-sheet a room for painting or doing renovations without thinking, "kill room." If you know, you know. The brilliant Michael C. Hall pioneered the killer-with-a-moral-code character type with Dexter Morgan, but things have come a long way since Miami, by way of Iron Lake in Dexter: New Blood, and now New York City, where Dexter: Resurrection is set. After surviving his son's bullet in New Blood, Dexter followed Harrison (Jack Alcott) to the Big Apple, where Dex took out a killer-obsessed billionaire (Peter Dinklage) and discovered an archive of uncaught killers. Season 2 jumps ahead three years, with Dexter caught between two of them—the veteran New York Ripper, played by Succession's Brian Cox, and the modern, tech-savvy Five Borough Killer, played by Legion's steely-eyed Dan Stevens. Uma Thurman also returns. Season 2 premieres October 30 on Paramount+ Premium. Dexter: Resurrection Release Date July 13, 2025 Network Paramount+ with Showtime Cast Michael C. Hall, Uma Thurman, Jack Alcott, David Zayas, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Emilia Suárez, James Remar, Peter Dinklage, John Lithgow, Erik King, Jimmy Smits, David Magidoff, Marc Menchaca, Bryan Lillis, Isabella Star LaBlanc, Jason Alan Carvell, McKaley Miller, Dallas Goldtooth, Darius Jordan Lee, Xander Mateo, John Maria Gutierrez, Nick DiBrizzi Jr., Alfredo Diaz Directors Marcos Siega Writers Scott Buck Main Genre Crime Creator(s) Clyde Phillips Producers Clyde Phillips Seasons 2 Executive Producer(s) Clyde Phillips 3 The Gilded Age, Season 4 (HBO Max) The old-money vs. new-money war rages on This Emmy-winning follow-up to Downton Abbey enjoyed its best season yet, critically, in season 3, and the cutthroat battle between new-money Russells and old-money van Rhijns is set to continue in its world of 1880s New York high society. Season 3 of The Gilded Age ended in triumph for Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon)—she's married her daughter Gladys to a British duke and her ball in Newport was a success, but her husband, George (Morgan Spector), has walked out on her. Season 4 deals with the fallout of all that, with Agnes van Rhijn (The Good Fight's Christine Baranski) plotting her comeback. Look out for Jim Gaffigan this season as President Grover Cleveland. Season 4 premieres November 1 on HBO and HBO Max, then Sundays into December. Knightley beautifully balances Helen Webb, who lives a double life—she's the prim and proper wife of a prominent British politician, but also a deadly spy for hire. Season 1 of Black Doves saw Helen and her assassin pal Sam (Ben Whishaw) embroiled in the murder of her secret lover. The season ended with Helen still spying and her husband Wallace (Andrew Buchan) about to become prime minister. Season 2 picks up a year later, with Helen leaking secrets from 10 Downing Street while the power structure of the Black Doves organization is being threatened. Season 2 premieres November 5 on Netflix, with all six episodes dropping at once. It has the Rotten Tomatoes scores to prove it (84% and 85% ratings for the first two seasons, respectively), and its first season drew a record 25 million viewers on day one. Set millennia before The Lord of the Rings, it follows the story of Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), the rise of Sauron (Charlie Vickers), and the major factions of Middle-earth. Season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power concluded with Sauron (still in human form) destroying the Elven city of Eregion and The Stranger revealing his name (Gandalf). In season 3, we jump ahead five years as war rages on in Middle-earth and Sauron gets ever closer to forging the One Ring. Simon Pegg is set to appear as the voice of the flaming demon, Balrog. Season 3 premieres November 11 with four episodes, then two each on November 18 and 25.
