For communities returning to areas affected by conflict, the first challenge is often beneath their feet. Mines and unexploded ordnance can prevent resettlement and delay the rebuilding of homes, roads and essential infrastructure. The fourth International Mine Action Conference brought together experts from more than 60 countries to discuss the challenges of making contaminated land safe.
