A woman and her alleged lover face a case in Meerut over the suspected murder of her husband after his family raised doubts.The woman had claimed that her 30-year-old husband died naturally. Meerut,Oct 6, 2026 17:41 ISTA case has been filed against a woman and her alleged lover in Meerut in connection with the suspected murder of her husband after his family raised doubts over the circumstances of his death, police said on Tuesday.Talib, a 30-year-old mason, died under suspicious circumstances on September 28. His wife, Ilma, 27, reportedly told family members that he had died a natural death. His relatives subsequently took his body to neighbouring Muzaffarnagar district, where it was buried, Circle Officer Sangram Singh said.The matter came under suspicion after Talib's cousin Akram and other family members approached police later and lodged a complaint alleging that Ilma and a man identified as Aman were involved in his death. A case was subsequently registered under relevant provisions of law, Singh said.According to police, the family later became suspicious of Ilma's conduct and learnt about her alleged friendship with Aman. They also claimed that Ilma was seen collecting valuables from the house before Talib's body was taken for burial. Local residents had allegedly seen Ilma and Aman together on several occasions, the family claimed. Police are completing formalities to exhume Talib's body and conduct a post-mortem examination. Investigators are also collecting evidence, Singh said, adding that further legal action would depend on the evidence gathered and the accused would be arrested as warranted.Talib and Ilma had been married for around four years and have a three-year-old daughter. During questioning, police said Ilma alleged that Talib used to assault her. The investigation is underway, with police preparing for the exhumation and post-mortem examination.- Ends
