She had been residing in a paying guest accommodation facilitated by the company. | Photo Credit: Illustration by Satheesh Vellinezhi A 21-year-old woman was found dead inside a room in a lodge at Doddaballapur in the Bengaluru Rural district on September 16, with the police suspecting that her husband had a role in her death.The deceased, Vidya, was a helper at the manufacturing unit of a private company in Doddaballapur. She had been residing in a paying guest accommodation facilitated by the company. The police suspect that her 29-year-old husband, Anand, strangled her following an argument and fled the lodge.According to the police, Vidya and Anand hail from Gauribidanur in Chikkaballapur district. They got married about three years ago. The couple, however, had frequent arguments, leading to marital discord.“Recently, she got a job in a factory and moved to the PG accommodation provided by the company. On September 15, Anand approached Vidya for a conversation. The couple checked into a lodge in Doddaballapur town,” an investigator in the case told The Hindu. “We suspect that she was strangled,” he added.The death came to light when the lodge staff opened the door of the room in which the couple had checked in. The police were informed. The police sent the body for a post-mortem, and the room was examined by Scene of Crime officers.The Doddaballapur Town police have registered an FIR under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, for murder, and are searching for her husband.
