Naturally, only a few movies can be the main draw for audiences in any one year, and the competition between films of a similar genre to be the biggest hit in their respective category can also lead to contrasting results between similar enough films in this regard as well, unless there's an extra draw for prospective viewers. That said, some years also just simply have a roster of movies that resonate more with audiences, leading to a solid level of overall success across the board. This appears to be the case for 2026 already, as the year is perilously close to a staggering $10 billion record, and seems thoroughly teed up to break it. 2026's Box Office Top 10 Is Seriously Near The $10 Billion Milestone 2026's assorted collection of box office hits up until now have set the year up to be a decidedly lucrative one for the world of film, with The Odyssey, Toy Story 5, Michael and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie all making over $1 billion in their worldwide box office totals, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day swinging into even bigger success with its own $2.3 billion earnings. Collectively, the overall success stories of 2026 have led to a staggeringly fiscally healthy top 10 for the year, with their collective total coming out to $9.8 billion even with months left to go. This means, so long as 2026 has one further box office success that makes $700 million or more - which would sadly dethrone Obsession and its $501 million box office results from the top 10 list - the ten biggest movies of 2026 would have garnered $10 billion in terms of their overall box office takings, which would be an immense achievement for the year. It's also an achievement that seems perhaps par for the course before the year is out, given the movies scheduled to release in the final months of 2026. 2026's Final Movies Are The Perfect Chance For The Year's Top 10 To Hit $10 Billion Of course, the final few months of 2026 have a fair roster of films set to release before the year comes to a close, with some very notable names being part of this lineup who are more likely than not to hit $700 million minimum with their box office results. Indeed, given the much-awaited releases of both Dune: Part Three and Avengers: Doomsday are set to happen in December, it seems borderline impossible for the year to close out without another major box office hit of this caliber, unless both films and the vested interest of their pre-established audience experience some entirely unforeseen complications. For now, though, this doesn't seem as though it will be the case, as the Avengers series has never had a box office result of less than $1 billion, and Dune: Part 2 grossed $712 million. This means it would arguably be more surprising if Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three didn't enter 2026's box office top 10 with their own results, meaning the stage has been set for 2026's biggest ten films to far exceed the $10 billion mark altogether, cementing the year as a major one for the world of movies.
