After finishing her cooking, Anarkali did not find her son inside the house and began searching for him. She also asked people nearby about the child, but no one had any information.A youth from the village later saw the child in the drain. He pulled the boy out, following which the family rushed him to a private hospital in Aliganj. Doctors examined him and declared him dead. The information of son's death left his mother inconsolable, and she lost consciousness. The incident triggered cries of grief in the family.Police reached the village after receiving information about the incident and gathered details of what had happened.Family members told police that authorities had constructed the drain along the roadside, about eight steps from their house, last year. The drain is around five feet deep and remains uncovered, with no slab over it.Police said the Prayagraj Rural Police (PRB) was informed about the child drowning in the drain in Junagarh village.
