The game's Expanded Operations add-on is out today Image: IO Interactive via Polygon Sign in to your Polygon.com account IO Interactive’s Hitman series is known for some of the best free DLC support in the game industry, and the studio seems to be living up to that expectation with its latest game. 007 First Light just launched the Extended Operations DLC, which adds several free updates. For starters, there’s Valhalla Protocol, a time-trial challenge featuring the high-powered Aston Martin Valhalla and its machine-gun turrets. This vehicle was a fan favorite, and you can now access it much more easily. The second major mission is Jungle Heist, a new level where Bond needs to find the code for a safe, crack it, and then fight his way to a rooftop to escape. Two new weapons are available for this mission and beyond: the Squire Marksman Rifle and the Storm 12-Gauge Shotgun. Bond has three new outfits to go with the firepower, including a snazzy black suit with a bow tie. You can capture these new styles in the Photo Mode, which comes with unique filters and poses. There are also two new modes: New Game Plus lets players keep several upgrades for a second run, while the 00 difficulty is designed to be unforgiving. Perhaps most importantly, you can now pet a dog. How has 007 First Light been received? IO Interactive released 007 First Light on May 27 to general praise. Critics gave the game favorable reviews for its sharp dialogue, solid stealth gameplay, and incredibly memorable tutorial sequence. Players have been similarly pleased, and First Light has a 90% positive rating on Steam. As of August, the game has sold an impressive 4 million copies. However, the game's future may still be in jeopardy. IO Interactive self-published First Light, but Amazon bought the Bond franchise in 2025. Amazon general manager of gaming Jeff Gattis said in June that the company plans to publish future 007 games directly, but later walked back that statement, saying that players “probably want IOI developing [a sequel].” Hopefully, we haven’t seen the last of this version of Bond.
